Eugene Rhodes

PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- Eugene Rhodes, 82, of Perryville died Wednesday, Feb. 15. 2006, at Perry County Memorial Hospital.

He was born Aug. 10, 1923, at Claryville, Mo., the son of Edward and Philomene Schulte Rhodes.

He was retired from the Perryville city water department.

He was a veteran of World War II, serving with the U.S. Merchant Marines.

He married Doris Louise Barber on Dec. 30, 1944, at Perryville.

Survivors include his wife of Perryville; three sons, Terry Rhodes of Lees Summit, Mo., Tim Rhodes of Perryville and Donnie Rhodes of Bloomsdale, Mo.; a brother, Edward Rhodes of Ballwin, Mo.; a sister, Ruth Kaiser of Perryville; 11 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a grandson, a brother and a sister.

Friends may call Saturday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Young and Sons Funeral Home in Perryville.

Memorial service will be held at the funeral chapel at 2 p.m. Saturday.

The Rev. Craig King will officiate. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery.
