ST. JAMES -- Eugene Edward Miller, 89, formerly of Scott County, died Sunday, Aug. 2, 1998, at the Missouri Veterans Home in St. James.
He was born Jan. 26, 1909, at Scott County, son of Henry David "Jack" and Anne Laura Koch Miller.
His wife, Geneva Alice Klages Miller, preceded him in death.
He was the first president of the Cape Girardeau Junior Chamber of Commerce, a 51-year member of St. Mark's Masonic Lodge in Cape Girardeau and a former member of Christ Episcopal Church in Cape Girardeau.
He served in the Missouri National Guard and in the U.S. Army in World War II and the Korean War. He retired with the rank of colonel in 1964.
He is survived by a sister, Georgia Lee Miller Lawrence, and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by a brother and two sisters.
Graveside service will be at 2 p.m., Friday, Aug. 22, 1998, at Cape Memorial Park.
