PATTON, Mo. -- Eugene Thomas Hart, 79, of Patton died Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2002, at Jackson Manor in Jackson, Mo.

He was born Jan. 1, 1923, at Perryville, Mo., son of Alvie and Elizabeth Macke Hart. He and Pearl Irene Teaford were married Jan. 19, 1943.

Hart retired from the Joliet Riverboat, where he was an oiler in the engine room. He was a member of Patton Lions Club and Happy Old People of Patton, Patton United Methodist Church, VFW Post 3838 in Cape Girardeau, and America Legion Post 0133 of Perryville.

He was a corporal in the U.S. Army Air Force during World War II. He received the Victory Medal, Good Conduct Medal, two overseas bars, American Theater and European African Middle Eastern.

Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Marily Hart of Cape Girardeau, Suzanne Stevens of Scott City, Mo.; a sister, Barbara Simpson of Nashville, Tenn., two half sisters, Norma Grief of Farmington, Mo., Margaret Heck of Joliet, Ill.; two stepsisters, Marie Velker of Perryville, Myrna Thomas of Crystal City, Mo.; a stepbrother, Robert Welker of Perryville; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Friends may call at Liley Funeral Home in Patton from 4-8 p.m. Thursday.

Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Fred Rister officiating. Burial will be in Patton Cemetery.
