Eugene A. Evans, 74, of St. Louis passed away Sunday, Oct. 1, 2012, at Missouri Baptist Medical Center in St. Louis.
He was born April 7, 1938, in Arkansas, to the late Alonzo and Rebecca Evans.
Eugene was owner and operator of Evans and Sons Trash Disposal from 1966 to 1990, and worked as a day laborer for Mobil Oil Co. He worked at Ceramo in Jackson, with Defender Cleaning Service at Procter and Gamble from 1990 to 1997, and later drove a school bus.
He never stopped fighting until his body wouldn't let him anymore.
Eugene leaves behind four children, Jackie Evans of Cape Girardeau, Ricky Evans of Jefferson City, Mo., Arnold Evans of Long Beach, Calif., David Evans; three sisters, Easter Harris of Atlanta, Ga., Eunice Evans of Wisconsin, Amy Stafford of Jackson; a brother, Robert Evans of St. Louis; eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; a host of cousins, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Irma Evans; a son, Wayne Evans; and two brothers, Alonzo Jr. and Dennis Evans.
There is no service at this time.
