Eugene W. Emmons, 90, of Cape Girardeau died Friday, July 30, 2004, at Heartland Care Rehab Center.

He was born Aug. 28, 1913, at Doniphan, Mo., son of John T. and Mary Magdalene Griffith Emmons. He and Mildred Angle were married June 9, 1934, at Blodgett, Mo.

Mr. Emmons farmed five years, was a self-employed carpenter more than 45 years, and worked at Riverside Lumber Co. more than 20 years, retiring in 1979. He was a member of First Church of God.

Survivors include four sons, Stanley (Nellie) Emmons and Mick (Muffy) Emmons of Cape Girardeau, Rudy (Dahlia) Emmons of Jackson, Donnie (Mary Sue) Emmons of Cape Girardeau; three daughters, Dee Niswonger and Mary Ellen Emmons of Cape Girardeau, Debbie (Charlie) Fisher of Lakeland, Fla.; three brothers, Weldon C. Emmons of Cape Girardeau, Linden Emmons of West Paducah, Ky., Vernon Emmons of Cape Girardeau; and two sisters, Gail Wissman of Cape Girardeau and Glenda Hency of Tucson, Ariz.

Also surviving are 19 grandchildren, David Emmons, Steve Emmons, Charles Emmons, Charlene Kimbel, Delano Emmons, Deanna Coyle, Tara Colegate, Regina Hamlin, Duane Emmons, Terry Emmons, Lori Sue Emmons, Jennifer Sadler, Micah Emmons, Charity Emmons, Christopher Jolley, Gregory Emmons, Rachelle Emmons, Brandi Emmons, Andru Emmons; 33 great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren; and several great-stepgrandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife; three sons, Mark H. Emmons, Charles Emmons and Kenneth Emmons; a daughter, Joyce Godwin; and a son-in-law, Joe Niswonger.

Friends may call at Ford and Sons Sprigg Street Funeral Home from 4 to 8:30 p.m. today.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Roger Christiansen officiating. Burial will be in Lorimier Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to River City Workers of the Blind or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
