SIKESTON -- Funeral service for Eugene D. Champion of Sikeston will be held at 2 p.m. today at Ponder Funeral Chapel. The Revs. Carl Addison and Roy Ferguson will officiate, with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery.

Champion, 83, died Tuesday, Dec. 28, 1993, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

He was born March 21, 1910, in Hickman, Ky., son of John Franklin and Ida Bell Champion. He married Nova Brown, who died Oct. 13, 1964. He later married Addie Henson Brothers Sept. 3, 1966.

Champion was retired from Sikeston Cotton Oil Mill, and was a member of Tanner Street Church of God.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Garry Champion of Springfield; two stepsons, Robert Brothers of Jackson, Major Edward Brothers of Camp Pendleton, Calif.; two stepdaughters, Mary Johnson of Sikeston, Kathryn Leible of Wautauga, Texas; a brother, Clifford Champion of Chicago; a sister, Josephine Fowler of LaForge; 11 grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.
