SCOTT CITY, Mo. -- Eugene Victor "Bake" Baker, 95, of Scott City died Monday, June 24, 2002, at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau.
He was born June 7, 1907, at Blodgett, Mo., son of Wood E. and Cora McCollum Baker. He and Elsie Mae Waddell were married Nov. 28, 1929, at Benton, Mo. She died Jan. 22, 1990. He later married Margaret Keating, who also preceded him in death.
Baker was an inspector 33 years with U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, and worked on the floodwall in Cape Girardeau. He later worked at Baker's Finer Foods.
He moved to Scott City 30 years ago from Thebes, Ill. He was a member of Father's Arms Fellowship.
Survivors include two sons, Alvie Baker of Scott City, Jimmie Baker of McClure, Ill.; a daughter, Sis Phillips of East Cape Girardeau, Ill.; a stepson, Bobby Baker of St. Charles, Mo.; two stepdaughters, Brenda Rector and Barbara Harris of St. Charles; six grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and five stepgrandchildren.
Friends may call at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Scott City from 5 to 8 p.m. today.
Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the chapel, with the Revs. Kenny Strong and Jack Owens officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery at Thebes.
