DEXTER, Mo. -- Funeral service for Ethelyn Day of Dexter was conducted Saturday at Rainey Funeral Chapel. The Rev. Fred Leist officiated. Burial was in Dexter Cemetery.
Day, 96, died Thursday, April 19, 2001, at Dexter Memorial Hospital.
She was born Sept. 27, 1904, at Alton, Ill., the daughter of Arthur and May Edith Meiner Dillingham.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Dexter and a former Sunday school superintendent for the children's division of the church. She also was a member of the United Methodist Women, Dexter Hospital Auxiliary, American Legion Auxiliary, Pyle Home Demonstration Club and Pyle 4-H Club. She was a former service chairman for the American Cancer Society.
She married Leslie S. Day on June 18, 1925, at Dexter. He died March 23, 1986.
Survivors include two daughters, Mae Palmer of Dexter and Barbara Jane Tarriff of Exeter, N.H.; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by two half-brothers, a sister and a half-sister.
