BLOOMFIELD -- Ethel Mae Young, 82, of Bloomfield died Tuesday, March 3, 1998, at Dexter Memorial Hospital in Dexter. She was born Nov. 22, 1915, in Missouri, daughter of Robert Lee and Johnnie Lee Chamberlin Short. She and Paul Elbert Young were married Aug. 14, 1943. He died March 5, 1979...

BLOOMFIELD -- Ethel Mae Young, 82, of Bloomfield died Tuesday, March 3, 1998, at Dexter Memorial Hospital in Dexter.

She was born Nov. 22, 1915, in Missouri, daughter of Robert Lee and Johnnie Lee Chamberlin Short. She and Paul Elbert Young were married Aug. 14, 1943. He died March 5, 1979.

Young was a resident of Dexter many years, and had lived in Bloomfield the past 18 months. She attended Second General Baptist Church at Dexter.

Survivors include a son, Jerry Johnson of Bloomfield; a stepdaughter, Wanda Gabrick of Yuma, Ariz.; four brothers, Henry Short of Charleston, Mel Johnson of Michigan, Leroy Parkinson of Dexter, Arthur Parkinson of St. Louis; two sisters, Clara Litzler of Dexter, Lucy Kellogg of Washington; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by two brothers.

Friends may call at Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Dexter from 5-8 p.m. today.

Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Phil Warren officiating. Burial will be in Hagy Cemetery at Dexter.
