CHAFFEE -- Ethel "Ekkie" Von Kessel, 72, of Chaffee, died Thursday, July 4, 1996, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau. She was born July 23, 1923, in Cape Girardeau, daughter of James Eldon and Della Mae Martin Wright. She and Karl Von Kessel were married Nov. 7, 1942. He died Dec. 8, 1989...

CHAFFEE -- Ethel "Ekkie" Von Kessel, 72, of Chaffee, died Thursday, July 4, 1996, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.

She was born July 23, 1923, in Cape Girardeau, daughter of James Eldon and Della Mae Martin Wright. She and Karl Von Kessel were married Nov. 7, 1942. He died Dec. 8, 1989.

Von Kessel formerly owned Chaffee Signal and North Scott County Publishing. She was a member of First Assembly of God Church, Ladies Auxiliary to VFW Post 3127, and Ladies Auxiliary to American Legion Post 389.

Survivors include two sons, Lt. Col. Karl "Korky" Von Kessel of Mountain Home Air Force Base, Idaho, William "Billy" Von Kessel of Nashville, Tenn.; three daughters, Karen Ball of Hillsboro, Ill., Jackie Young of Colorado Springs, Colo., Debbie Sanders of Nashville; four brothers, Bob and Bill Wright of Cape Girardeau, Brooks Wright of Sylvania, Ohio, Martin Wright of Lakeland, Fla.; five sisters, Freeda Davis, Madge Sample and Shirley Thomas of Cape Girardeau, Veta Haynes and Phyllis Conyers of Overland; 11 grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by three brothers, two sisters and a grandson.

Friends may call at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Chaffee after 3 p.m. today.

Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the chapel, with the Rev. William Marshall officiating. Burial will be in Union Park Cemetery.
