VILLA RIDGE, Ill. -- Funeral for Ethel I. Story of Villa Ridge will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Trinity Pentecostal Church in Sandusky, Ill. The Rev. Clark Short will officiate. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery at Thebes, Ill.
Friends may call at Jones Funeral Home in Tamms, Ill., from 5-8 p.m. today, and at the church after 11:30 a.m. Saturday.
Story, 78, died Wednesday, May 23, 2001, at Union County Hospital in Anna, Ill.
She was born Feb. 15, 1923, daughter of Jess and Essie Myers Martin. She married Andrew Arthur Story, who died July 14, 2000.
Story was a former seamstress with Illinois Shop Cloth Co. in Chicago. She was a member of Trinity Pentecostal Church. She was formerly of Thebes.
Survivors include five daughters, Barbara Story of Villa Ridge, Linda Dennis of Steger, Ill., Janis Garcia of Carlsbad, N.M., Shelly Stanton of Ullin, Ill., Debbie Wenglaaz of Wheatfield, Ill.; a son, Findly Story of Crete, Ill.; two sisters, Mildred Held of Olive Branch, Ill., Minnie McCarty of Alabama; three brothers, Fred Pettit of Olive Branch, Marion Pettit of McClure, Ill., Bill Pettit of Thebes; 23 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a son and a daughter.
