DONGOLA, Ill. -- Funeral service for Ethel M. Hancock, Dongola Route 2, will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Hileman and Parr Funeral Home in Jonesboro. The Rev. Chuck Miller will officiate, with burial in Jonesboro Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 5-8 p.m. today.
Hancock, 85, died Monday, March 10, 1997, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.
She was born Sept. 17, 1911, in Anna, daughter of Lee and Mae Brown Hancock. She first married Myrl Childers. She later married Benton Hancock April 8, 1946, in Piggott, Ark. He died Jan. 10, 1994.
Hancock was a retired restaurant owner. She was a member and former president of VFW Auxiliary 3455 in Anna.
Survivors include two daughters, Helen Bedwell of Brighton, Donna Swink of Dongola; a brother, Sonny Dover of Jonesboro; two sisters, Wanda Bowen of Dongola, Mary Britt of Jonesboro; 11 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, grandson, three brothers and a sister.
