Ethel Dora Park Coleman, 91, of Cape Girardeau, died Tuesday, May 30, 2006, at Southeast Missouri Hospital. Ethel Dora Park Coleman, 91, of Cape Girardeau, died Tuesday, May 30, 2006, at Southeast Missouri Hospital.

She was born Sept. 22, 1914, in Collinsville, Ill., daughter of Howell Wright and Clara Candice Kershaw Park. She graduated from Greenville High School and attended Greenville College in Greenville, Ill., and Hanover College in Hanover, Ind.

She married Dale Jennings Coleman of Sorento, Ill., at Bluffton, Ind., in 1937. He preceded her in death in 1965.

She was employed by the Bond County Treasurer's Office in Greenville and later by the Weathers Insurance Agency in Ridge Farm, Ill., where she lived from 1948 to 2005. At the time of her retirement in 1979 she was serving as secretary and district bookkeeper for the Ridge Farm Township High School.

Ethel was a member of the Ridge Farm Women's Club and the Danville Chapter 854 Order of Eastern Star. She was also a member of the Ridge Farm United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women's Club and held several offices in each.

She enjoyed doing volunteer work and was an avid sports fan. She loved being with her family and with friends at Westminster Presbyterian Church and the Cape Girardeau Senior Center.

Survivors include a son, John Park Coleman of Cape Girardeau; a grandson, David Jennings Coleman and wife Jeri of St. Louis; a granddaughter, Laura Anne Smith of Cape Girardeau; and two great-grandsons, Scott Owen and Joseph Dale Smith of Cape Girardeau.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Laura Pfeiffer; and a brother, Marshall.

Friends may call Friday from 5 to 7 p.m. at McCombs Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau.

The funeral will be at 7 p.m. Friday, with the Rev. Joel Hebert officiating. A graveside committal service will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at Sunnyside Cemetery in Sorento.

Expressions of sympathy may be made in the form of memorials to the United Methodist Church of Ridge Farm.
