Esther M. Schmidt, 94, of The Lutheran Home, formerly of Jackson, passed away Sunday, July 15, 2007, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Gir­ar­deau.
She was born July 31, 1912, in Altenburg, Mo., daughter of Rudolph and Anna Verseman Lohmann. She and Arnold E. Schmidt were married Oct. 30, 1937. He passed away Dec. 7, 1990.
Esther worked several years at the former Leonard's Feed and Seed in Jackson. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Jackson and its Ladies Aid.
Survivors include two sons, Allan "Bud" (Connie) Schmidt of Gordonville, Stanley (Sharon) Schmidt of Cape Gir­ar­deau; two daughters, Gerri Weber of Jackson, Judi Francis of St. Louis; 10 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Oscar D. Weber; three brothers and a sister.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson, and from 9 a.m. to service time Wednesday at St. Paul Lutheran Church.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the church, with the Rev. David Johnson officiating. Interment will follow in Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson.
