SIKESTON -- Esther Brookshire Hinton, 96, of Sikeston, died Wednesday, June 16, 1993, at Sikeston Convalescent Center.
She was born May 30, 1897, at Granola, Kan., daughter of Elam and Myrtie Savely. She and Harley R. Brookshire were married June 20, 1915, in Oklahoma. He died in 1930. She later married Jacob M. Hinton July 21, 1931. He died Dec. 9, 1971.
Hinton worked many years at Houchin's Do-Nut Shop, retiring in the early 1960s. She attended Calvary Temple Assembly of God Church.
Survivors include five sons, Bobby Hinton of Sikeston, J.D. Hinton of Hardy, Ark., Curtis Hinton of Goldboro, N.C., James Brookshire of Pacific, Harley Brookshire of Portland, Ore.; five daughters, Myrtle Little of Henderson, Nev., Flora Freeman of Las Vegas, Nev., Mildred Smith of Gladewater, Texas, Katie Prince of North Little Rock, Ark., Grace White of Jonesboro, Ark.; 37 grandchildren; 67 great-grandchildren, and 16 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two daughters and a brother.
Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel here. The Rev. Philip Pierce will officiate, with burial in Memorial Park Cemetery here.
Friends may call at the funeral home after 5 p.m. today.
