SIKESTON, Mo. -- Esther Hampton, 98, of Paris, Texas, formerly of Sikeston, died Saturday, Nov. 17, 2001, at Christus-St. Joseph's Hospital in Paris.
She was born June 20, 1903, in Arkansas.
She and George Hampton were married. He died in 1961.
She worked at Little Man Lamberts Cafe at Sikeston as a cook 21 years. She moved to DeKalb, Ill., in 1966, and then to Paris.
Survivors include four sons, Wilburn D. Hampton Sr. of St. Louis, Alvin F. Hampton of DeKalb, William T. Hampton of Flora, Ill., and James Hampton of Ozark, Mo.; three daughters, Pauline Vivrett of Eureka, Mo., Inez Cossey of Hillsboro, Mo., and Betty Hurst of Paris; a number of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Nunnelee Chapel, with the Rev. Huey Long officiating. Burial will be in New Morley Cemetery.
Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
