MATTHEWS -- Essie Mae Ergle, 74, of Lilbourn, formerly of Matthews, died Friday, Jan. 4, 1991, at the Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston.
She as born June 27, 1916, at Hattieville, Ark., to Austin G. Johnson and Ella Hicks Johnson.
She married Ed Ergle on Sept. 13, 1952, at Piggot, Ark. He survives.
She was a member of the New Madrid Baptist Church.
She is also survived by one son, Joe Smith of Rockford, Ill., four brothers, Riley Johnson of Yellville, Ark., Ervin Johnson of Dell, Ark., J.M. Johnson of Cahokia, Ill., and Birl Johnson of Kewanee; three sisters, Louis Nance of Sikeston, and Mary Masterson and Lucille Huie of New Madrid; two grandchildren and one great grandchild.
Friends may call at the Amick Burnett Funeral Chapel in Sikeston until time of service at 3:30 p.m.
The Rev. Dean Wallace, pastor of the New Madrid Baptist Church, will officiate.
Burial will follow in the Matthews Cemetery.
