KARNAK, Ill. -- Essie Lockett, 93, of Hillerman died Thursday, Nov. 18, 1999, at Massac Memorial Hospital in Metropolis.
She was born Jan. 11, 1906, in Boaz, daughter of James and Viola Thompson Barnett. She first married Jack Lewis McClain, who preceded her in death. She later married Marvin Lockett, who also preceded her in death.
Lockett had been a nurse aide at area nursing homes. She was a member of Boaz Congregational Church.
Survivors include a son, James McClain of Karnak; a sister, Pearl Moore of Midland, Texas; and a brother, Armon Barnett of Karnak.
She was preceded in death by a sister and five brothers.
Friends may call at Wilson Funeral Home in Karnak from 6-9 p.m. today.
Funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. The Rev. Joey Dunning will officiate. Burial will be in Anderson Cemetery at Boaz.
