SEDGEWICKVILLE -- Ervin Walter Bangert, 67, of Sedgewickville died Saturday, May 6, 1995, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.

He was born in Lixville July 17, 1927, to Robert and Caroline Pohlman Bangert.

He married Marilyn Hellman Nov. 11, 1950. She survives.

Bangert was a farmer and member of the Sedgewickville Lutheran Church; Sedgewickville Volunteer Fire Department; Sedgewickville Neighborhood Watch; American Legion Post 133, Moonier-Reddick of Perryville; Jackson AAL; and Cape Girardeau and Bollinger County Co-op.

He served as a Bollinger County commissioner for two terms, a charter member of the Bollinger County Historical Society, and the Bollinger County ASCS Committee.

He was a school bus driver for 16 years in the Meadow Heights School District.

Bangert was a veteran of the Korean War, having served in the 7th Army.

Other survivors are two sons, Clifford Bangert of Kansas City and James Bangert of Sedgewickville; a daughter, Carole Abernathy of Sedgewickville; two brothers, Tony Bangert of Patton and Lonnie Bangert of Jackson; two sisters, Stella Uhlig of Lincoln, Neb., and Wilma Ruppel of Oak Ridge; two stepsisters, Trula Mouser of Perryville and Mae Thomason of Farmington; and five grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a brother.

Friends may call at Liley Funeral Home in Patton today after 4 p.m. An American Legion service is scheduled for 7 tonight.

Funeral service will be at the funeral home Tuesday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Mary Waudby officiating. Burial will be in Lixville Lutheran Cemetery.
