EAST PRAIRIE, Mo. -- Earnest Clinton "Ernie" Manning Jr., 55, of East Prairie and formerly of Morehead, Ky., died Thursday, Dec. 7, 2000, at the John Cochran V.A. Medical Center in St. Louis. He was born May 28, 1945, in Seaman, Ohio, son of Virgie Lee Lambert Manning and Earnest Clinton Manning Sr. He and Jane Mouser were married April 9, 1965...

EAST PRAIRIE, Mo. -- Earnest Clinton "Ernie" Manning Jr., 55, of East Prairie and formerly of Morehead, Ky., died Thursday, Dec. 7, 2000, at the John Cochran V.A. Medical Center in St. Louis.

He was born May 28, 1945, in Seaman, Ohio, son of Virgie Lee Lambert Manning and Earnest Clinton Manning Sr. He and Jane Mouser were married April 9, 1965.

He had lived in East Prairie the past 20 years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving during the Cuban blockade.

Survivors include his mother, of Morehead; his wife; three sons, Kelly L. Manning and Kevin R. Manning, both of East Prairie, and Michael L. Manning of Bertrand, Mo.; two daughters, Tammy Givens of East Prairie and Sandra Littleton of Waterloo, Iowa; three brothers, Kenneth Manning of Corinth, Miss., Hollie and Levon Manning of Morehead, Ky.; three sisters, Ruth Binion of Morehead, Nona Bartell of Reed Springs, Mo., and Shelby Watson of Miami, Fla.; and eight grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father, a brother and a sister.

Friends may call after 5 p.m. Sunday at Shelby Funeral Home in East Prairie.

Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the funeral home, with Randy Satterfield and John Culver officiating.

Graveside services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Ditney Ridge Cemetery near Morehead, with Northcutt & Sons Funeral Home of Morehead in charge of arrangements.

The American Legion Post 126 of Morehead will conduct full graveside military rites.
