LUTESVILLE -- Service for Ernest V. Bess will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. at Liley Funeral Home, with Rev. John Swain and Rev. Audie Long, officiating. Burial will be in Bollinger County Memorial Park Cemetery near Marble Hill.
Friends may call today after 5 p.m. at the funeral home.
Bess, 78 years old, of Cape Girardeau, died Monday, Dec. 3, 1990, at Chateau Girardeau Nursing Center.
He was born Dec. 28, 1911, near Lutesville , son of Peter and Etta Perkins Bess.
On June 6, 1941, he married Della M. James. She preceded him in death on Jan. 31, 1982.
He is survived by a son, Alvin R. Bess, of Cape Girardeau; daughter-in-law Judy Bess; and a brother, Estel Bess of Jackson.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, and three sisters.
He moved to Cape Girardeau in 1943, from Lutesville.
He worked 21 years at A & P Grocery Store, and 14 years at Ward's Food Mart at Cape Girardeau.
He was a member and deacon of First General Baptist Church of Cape Girardeau for more than 25 years.
