SIKESTON -- Ernest Wesley McCain, 79, of Sikeston died Friday, Dec. 9, 1994, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.

He was born April 7, 1915, in New Madrid County, the son of the late Della Roseberry McCain and John W. McCain, who survives of Bloomfield.

He was a member of the First Assembly of God Church. He was a scale operator and grain inspector for Scott County Milling Co. for 38 years.

On Dec. 21, 1935 in Sikeston, he married Fern Goetz, who survives of the home.

Also surviving are a son, Lawrence W. McCain of Sikeston; two daughters, June Watkins of Sullivan, Ill., and Nedria Culbertson of Sikeston; two brothers, Welton McCain of Huntsville, Ala., and C.J. McCain of Bloomfield; three sisters, Ivon Doughlas of Dexter, Ileta Cannon of Tecumseh and Cletha Pipkin of Rockford, Ill.; eight grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Two grandsons, a brother, a sister and his stepmother preceded him in death.

Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. today at the Nunnelee Funeral Chapel in Sikeston, with the Rev. Jerry Harris officiating. Burial will follow in Garden of Memories Cemetery.
