Ernest Lee Hahs, 69, of Cape Girardeau, died Friday, Sept. 13, 1991, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.
He was born Oct. 17, 1921, in Jackson, son of John Q. Hahs and Ara Niswonger Hahs.
He married the former Anna Mae Amos on Aug. 9, 1941. She survives.
Other survivors are: one son, Greg Hahs and daughter-in-law Sharon Hahs of Cape Girardeau and one daughter, Pamela Jones and son-in-law Fred Jones; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by an infant son.
Hahs lived in Jackson until 1965 and was co-owner of Prill-Hahs Ford Motor Company in Jackson from 1955-61. Earlier in his career, he worked at the former Ford Groves Motor Company in Jackson. Hahs moved to Cape Girardeau in 1965 and opened Hahs Office Equipment. He retired from there in 1982.
Hahs is a former member of the New McKendree United Methodist Church. He transferred his membership to the Assembly of God Church on Mount Auburn Road, where he was a member and a deacon.
He was a former member and past president of the Jackson Optimist Club and exalted ruler of the Chaffee Elks Lodge. He had also worked extensively with the Boy Scouts in Jackson.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Monday at McCombs Funeral Home. The Rev. Rodney Shipman will officiate, with burial at Memorial Parks Cemetery in Cape Girardeau.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 4 to 8 p.m. today.
