CHARLESTON, Mo. -- Ernest Ivy, 72, of Charleston died Friday, Feb. 27, 2004, at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston, Mo.
He was born July 20, 1931, at Charleston, son of Berry and Lula Scaife Ivy. He and Vernice Treadwell were married Nov. 29, 1975.
Ivy served in the U.S. Army from Sept. 11, 1952, to July 9, 1954.
He was a member of Faith Temple Church of God in Christ at Wyatt, Mo.
Survivors include his wife; seven daughters, Linda Courtney, Brenda Watson, Ernestine Watson and Lois Ivy, all of Chicago, Hattie Brown and Michelle Coleman of Charleston, Ader Jackson of Sikeston; three sons, Fred Ivy of Chicago, Joe and Mitchell Treadwell of Charleston; three brothers, Percy Ivy of Charleston, Johnnie Ivy of Chicago, Ervin Ivy of Memence, Ill.; a sister, Thelma Offord of Charleston; 27 grandchildren; and 31 great-grandchildren.
Friends may call Saturday at Faith Temple Church of God in Christ from noon to service time.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the church, with Limmie Pulliam officiating. Burial will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield, with full military honors.
Williams Funeral Home in Charleston is in charge of arrangements.
