SIKESTON --Ernest E. Cox, 92, of Sikeston died Saturday, Aug. 23, 1997, at Missouri Delta Medical Center.
He was born Jan. 7, 1905, in Crosstown, the son of John and Ida Warren Cox.
He sold furniture for 61 years, including 28 years with Lewis Furniture Co. in Sikeston. He retired from Lewis Furniture in 1989 at age 84. He also worked for Dempster Furniture and Undertaking Co. and National Furniture Co., both in Sikeston.
He was a 50-year member of the IOOF lodge in Sikeston.
He belonged to the First Baptist Church in Sikeston all his life.
Survivors include a son, Jere W. Cox of Sikeston; two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Two brothers and three sisters preceded him in death.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m today at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel in Sikeston.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery in Sikeston.
