TAMMS, Ill. -- Ernest Butler, 69, of Tamms went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, Aug. 25, 2020.

Ernest was born Nov. 18, 1950, to Ernest and Lena Sharp Butler in Cairo, Illinois.

He was a faithful saint, deacon and board member of First Pentecostal Church in Cape Girardeau for more than 15 years.

He is survived by his first and only love, Anna Marie Butler, his wife of 51 years, whom he married Aug. 18, 1969; children, Tommy (Michelle) Butler, Lisa Keppner and the Rev. Stephen (Salina) Butler; 12 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren whom he adored; brother, Ronnie (Cindy) Butler of Cedar Hills, Missouri; and sister, Shirley Dixon of Madison, Illinois.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Ernest Butler Jr.; five sisters; and two brothers.

A celebration of the life, hosted by his family, will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at First Pentecostal Church in Cape Girardeau, with the Rev. Stephen R. Butler and Pastor Darrell E. Faire officiating.

Visitation will be from noon until 2 p.m. Sunday at the Church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the church building fund.
