ERMIL BARTELS

Ermil S. Bartels, 89, of Cape Girardeau died Wednesday, Feb. 5, 1997, at Chateau Girardeau Health Center.

She was born Oct. 27, 1907, in Cape Girardeau, daughter of William and Tessie Hamilton Seiler. She married Walter H. "Bud" Bartels, who preceded her in death.

The couple owned Bartels Department Store Ltd., which was located at 430 Broadway. She was buyer for the store and traveled extensively.

Bartels helped establish the women golfers group of the Cape Girardeau Country Club. She was a contributor to Southeast Missouri State University, and was a member of the President's Council. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church.

There are no survivors.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister.

Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Ford and Sons Mt. Auburn Chapel, with the Rev. Robert W. Spradling officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park.

There is no visitation.
