JACKSON -- Erma A. Nunn, 72, of Jackson passed away Thursday, April 13, 2000, at the St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau. She was born April 3, 1928, in Decatur, Ill., the daughter of J.L. and Ella Mae Hott Garvin. On June 22, 1946, she married William Norris Nunn. He preceded her in death on March 4, 1999...

JACKSON -- Erma A. Nunn, 72, of Jackson passed away Thursday, April 13, 2000, at the St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau. She was born April 3, 1928, in Decatur, Ill., the daughter of J.L. and Ella Mae Hott Garvin. On June 22, 1946, she married William Norris Nunn. He preceded her in death on March 4, 1999.

She is survived by one son William "Billy" Wayne Nunn of Burfordville; one daughter, Mardell Amelunke of Burfordville; three grandchildren, John Eric Amelunke and his wife, April, of Oak Ridge; Katie Amelunke of St. Louis; and Elizabeth Nunn of Leopold; five sisters, Francis Patrick of Hammond, Ill..; Margaret Murphy, Dorothy Decrevel and Ruth Kaylor, all of Decatur, Ill., and Evelyn Daughtery of Clinton, Ill.

Also surviving are two special nieces who were raised as sisters with her, Mary B. Meyer of Tuscola, Ill., and Jean L. Harned of Villa Grove, Ill. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters and a brother.

Mrs. Nunn was known for her artistic talent and enjoyed the arts and antiques very much. When her son was little she was a Cub Scout leader. She was also an excellent seamstress and did sewing for people for many years when her children were small. She worked as a beautician for many years, having her own salon. In 1972, she became postmaster of the Burfordville post office. She retired from the post office in October 1999.

A memorial service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, April 15, 2000, at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson, with the Rev. Lloyd Englemann officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home from 1 p.m. until time of service.
