Era Mae Lufcy, 89, of Cape Girardeau died Tuesday, Sept. 27, 2011, at Southeast Hospital.

She was born Jan. 27, 1922, in Halls, Tenn., to Thomas and Beulah Mae Gilliand Clay. She and Paul Lufcy were married May 29, 1940, in Cape Girardeau. He preceded her in death Jan. 16, 2000.

Era was a member of Southside Baptist Church. She was a licensed practical nurse at Saint Francis Medical Center 38 years, retiring in 1990.

Mom always kept her faith until the end, and now she's gone to her heavenly home.

Survivors include two sons, Freeman Lufcy and wife Jeanette of Perryville, Mo., Paul W. Lufcy and wife Brenda of Cape Girardeau; four daughters, Getella Allen and husband Tom of Collierville, Tenn., Margaret Aufdenberg and husband Larry (deceased) of Jackson, Sylvia Luebbers and husband Bob and Sandra Brown and husband DeWayne (deceased) of Cape Girardeau; 23 grandchildren; 44 great-grandchildren; and 21 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters, two great-grandchildren, a great-great-grandchild, a half brother and two sons-in-law.

Visitation was Thursday at Ford and Sons Sprigg Street Funeral Home.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. today at the funeral home, with the Rev. E.D. Francis officiating. Burial will be in Lorimier Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be given to American Heart Association or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
