SIKESTON -- E.R. "Buddy" Largent, 79, of Sikeston, died Wednesday, Aug. 5, 1992, at Sells Rest Home in Matthews.
He was born Jan. 24, 1913, at Portageville, son of William W. and Edith Rathbone Largent. He first married Mildred Smith June 18, 1933, who died Jan. 10, 1958. He later married Esther Vancil Feb. 16, 1964.
Largent had been a registered pharmacist since 1936, and was co-owner of Medical Arts Pharmacy 15 years.
He was appointed in 1975 by then Gov. Christopher S. Bond to the State Board of Pharmacy. He served as president and vice president for a five-year term.
Largent was a member of Missouri Pharmaceutical Association, and Southeast Missouri Pharmaceutical Association. He served two terms as president of SMPA. He was a member of First United Methodist Church and its Men's Bible Class.
Survivors include his wife; a son, William Largent of San Diego, Calif.; a daughter, Janis Stewart of Macomb, Ill.; a stepson, J.P. Vancil of Campbell; three sisters, Dorothy Marr of Portageville, Helen Diebold of Van Nuys, Calif., Lena Thompson of Oak Ridge, Tenn.; five grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
Friends may call at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel after 6 p.m. today.
Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Friday at First United Methodist Church. The Rev. Charles E. Buck will officiate, with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery.
