PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- Emmett H. Kennon, 89, of Jackson, formerly of Perryville, died Monday, Nov. 26, 2018, at Southeast Hospital in Cape Girardeau. PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- Emmett H. Kennon, 89, of Jackson, formerly of Perryville, died Monday, Nov. 26, 2018, at Southeast Hospital in Cape Girardeau.

He was born June 30, 1929, in Perry County, son of William E. and Mary K. Miller Kennon. He first married Mary Lue Grindstaff. She preceded him in death in September 1975. He then married Darla R. Nesslein on Jan. 14, 1977. She survives in Jackson.

He was retired from Pittsburgh Plate Glass after 30 years. He was owner/operator of Kennon Construction Company for more than 20 years. He was a member of The Church of the Nazarene, was in the U.S. Army National Guard for more than 41 years and was a member of National Guard Retired Association.

Other survivors include one son and three daughters, Leroy Kennon (Kim) of Perryville, Sharon (Keith) Ehlers of Perryville, Karen (John) Huber of Jackson and Amy (Gerry) Jones of Cape Girardeau; daughter-in-law, Linda Kennon of Perryville; 14 grandchildren, Jeremy (Tiffany) Kennon, Nathan (Kibby) Kennon, Leticia (Jason) Kelley, Brian (Heather) Ehlers, Matthew (Amanda) Huber, Chad (Kyla) Huber, Riley Huber, Chance Thompson, Colby (Ashley) Thompson, Heather Kennon and Jed, William, John Henry and Isabel Jones; and 15 great-grandchildren, with one on the way.

He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Mary Lue; one son, Gary Kennon; one daughter-in-law, Renee Kennon; four brothers, Lester, Ralph, Ray and Chalmer Kennon; and one sister, Gladys Heberlie.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday and from 6:30 to 10 a.m. Friday at Young and Sons Funeral Home in Perryville.

Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Whitewater Christian Cemetery, with military graveside honors provided by the American Legion and Delta Team.

Memorials are preferred to Whitewater Christian Church.
