DIEHLSTADT, Mo. -- Emmett Claycomb, 82, died Wednesday, March 18, 2015, at his home near Diehlstadt.
He was born July 13, 1932, at Cairo, Illinois, to Henry and Edna Michael Claycomb. He and Mary Elizabeth Inman were married June 19, 1954. She preceded him in death Sept. 2, 2006.
Emmett attended Unity Baptist Church in Benton, Illinois. He was a self-employed farmer, retiring in 2005.
Survivors include three daughters and sons-in-law, Lynn and Warren Gage of Benton, Mary Ellen and Kenny Burns of Kelso, Missouri, and Sondra and Keith Skelton of Charleston, Missouri; two sisters, Dianne Wells of Sikeston, Missouri, and Eleanor Murphy of Mesa, Arizona; six grandchildren, Deidre Florek, Denetra Glastetter, Brandon Gage, Brian Hecker, Chance Huff and Clay Skelton; and 11 great-grandchildren, Tyler, Gracen, Emma, Austin, Garrett, Connor, Alexis, Abigail, Kaleb, Mallory and Aidynne.
In addition to his wife and parents, a son, Emmett Henry Claycomb II, preceded him in death.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at Ponder Funeral Home in Sikeston.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Dennis Lowe, pastor of Unity Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in IOOF Cemetery at Charleston.
