Emma J. Yount, 78, of Cape Girardeau died Wednesday, Sept. 26, 2001, at St. Francis Medical Center.
She was born July 5, 1923, at Patton, Mo., daughter of the Rev. Henry and Nettie Denman Long. She and Julius Yount were married Jan. 12, 1946, in West Memphis, Ark.
Emma grew up in the Patton area. She attended Southeast Missouri State University, and taught elementary education in Bollinger County. She and her husband also owned and operated Yount's Tool and Trailer in Webster Groves, Mo., from 1961 to the late 1970s.
She moved to Cape Girardeau in 1977, and was an active member of First Church of the Nazarene.
Survivors include her husband, Julius; a son and daughter-in-law, Terry and Karen Yount of Chesterfield, Mo.; two daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and Mike McKinnis of Cape Girardeau, Barbara and Darrell Seabaugh of Jackson, Mo.; a brother, Walter J. Long of St. Louis; six grandchildren, Dustin McKinnis of Cape Girardeau, Tamara Orloff of Cleveland, Ohio, Natalie Orloff of Jackson, Tony Yount of St. Louis, Jessica Yount of Chesterfield, Tina Yount of St. Louis; and a great-grandchild, Brianna Yount of St. Louis.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister; and a grandchild, Terry Yount Jr.
Friends may call at Ford and Sons Mt. Auburn Funeral Home from 4-8 p.m. today.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. The Rev. William L. Burke, the Rev. Vernon Long and the Rev. E.K. Purcell will officiate. Burial will be in Cape County Memorial Park.
