EMMA STEFFENS

ALTENBURG -- Emma L. Steffens, 94, of Altenburg, died Wednesday, Nov. 4, 1998, at Perry County Nursing Home.

She was born July 10, 1904, at Farrar, daughter of Ernst and Magdalena Roth Koenig. She and Ferdinand Steffens were married June 12, 1927. He died Nov. 26, 1994.

Steffens was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, honorary member of Trinity Ladies Aid, and Altenburg Senior Citizens.

Survivors include five sons, Vernon and Larry Steffens of Frohna, Clinton Steffens of Jackson, Kenneth Steffens of Altenburg, Melbert Steffens of Imperial; two daughters, Vera Noennig of Black Jack, Geraldine Kaufmann of Frohna; a brother, Alfred Koenig of Perryville; 18 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; and seven great-stepgrandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son, four sisters, a brother, four grandchildren, and a great-stepgrandchild.

Friends may call at Young and Sons East Perry Chapel from 5-9 p.m. today, and Friday from 6:30-8 a.m.

Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Trinity Church, with the Rev. Ahlert Strand officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
