WASHINGTON, Mo. -- Emma Pinkston Rhodes, 92, of Washington passed away Thursday, March 14, 2019, at Grandview Healthcare Center.
She was born Jan. 30, 1927, in Fornfelt, now Scott City, to the late Lester James and Tessie May Nolan Pinkston. She was united in marriage to Billy Ray Rhodes on Oct, 9, 1947, at the Methodist Church in Fornfelt,
Emma worked for the International Shoe Co. in Cape Girardeau and St. Louis, and later Stix, Baer and Fuller Department Store.
She is survived by her husband, Billy Ray Rhodes of Washington; sons, Keith Alan Rhodes of Washington and David Lee Rhodes of Southlake, Texas; grandchildren, Jake Slade Rhodes and Pierre Roberto Eyre, both of Washington, Jill Nicole Wallace of McKinney, Texas, and Jamie Leigh Rhodes and Joshua Robert Ray Rhodes, both of Southlake; sisters, Ruby Marion Heyes of Gillespie, Illinois, and Betty Jackson of Florida; great-grandchildren, Jayden David Wallace and Kylee Madison Wallace, both of McKinney; and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and six siblings, J.T., Tommy, Benny, Kenneth, Mildred and Verna.
Memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Lightner Cemetery in Scott City, with the Rev. Jim Woeltje officiating.
