Emma Lee Huffman, 79, of Jackson passed away Tuesday, June 1, 2004, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.
She was born Oct. 24, 1924, at Kennett, Mo., daughter of Louie T. and Mary Blanch Thacker Young. She and the Rev. Arvil Huffman were married Feb. 12, 1944. He died Sept. 2, 1998.
Emma Lee was a homemaker and actively served with her husband in his General Baptist ministries in the following Southeast Missouri churches: Barks Chapel, Crump; Mount Zion, Scopus; Fairview and New Hope, Advance; Randles General Baptist Church, Randles; Brown Chapel, Puxico; Chaffee General Baptist, Chaffee; Mount Pisgah, Aquilla; and Kinder General Baptist Church, Kinder.
After Arvil's death, Emma Lee moved to Jackson and became a member of First General Baptist Church, where she actively served with her son in the children's ministry. She also was active in the JOY Group and the We Care Group.
Loving survivors include two sons, the Rev. Mike Huffman of Jackson, Rodger Huffman of Benton, Mo.; a brother, James Young of Junction City, Kan.; two sisters, Kathleen Parker of San Antonio, Texas; Bonita Wagoner of Poplar Bluff, Mo.; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a brother and a grandson.
Friends may call at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home, with the Revs. Vyron Yount and Luther Rhodes officiating. Burial will be in Barks Chapel Cemetery at Crump.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to First General Baptist Church Building Fund.
