OLIVE BRANCH, Ill. -- Emma E. Hinton, 91, of Olive Branch passed away Tuesday, Nov. 8, 2011, at Daystar Care Center in Cairo, Ill. She was born April 19, 1920, at Miller City, Ill., daughter of Emile and Jenny Hewitt Schlamer. She married Frank Hinton on Aug. 2, 1938. He preceded her in death Jan. 11, 1965...

OLIVE BRANCH, Ill. -- Emma E. Hinton, 91, of Olive Branch passed away Tuesday, Nov. 8, 2011, at Daystar Care Center in Cairo, Ill.

She was born April 19, 1920, at Miller City, Ill., daughter of Emile and Jenny Hewitt Schlamer. She married Frank Hinton on Aug. 2, 1938. He preceded her in death Jan. 11, 1965.

Emma was a former bartender, member of Pulaski-Alexander County Sportsmen's Club of Miller City and a member of American Legion Women's Auxiliary of Villa Ridge, Ill.

Emma enjoyed quilting, fishing and was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a sister, Eula Vaughn; brothers, Joseph, Gerald, Emil, Carl and Louis Schlamer, and an infant brother.

Survivors include a daughter, Naomi (Clarence) Bigham of Olive Branch; a son, Billy Joe Hinton of Thebes, Ill.; a brother, Dick (Evelyn) Schlamer of Thebes; six grandchildren, David (Teresa) Bigham, Darren (Donna) Bigham, Daniel Bigham, Douglas (Janice) Bigham, Dale (Ellen) Bigham and Dena (Dale) Wood; 19 great-grandchildren; 12 great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call from 11 a.m. until time of service Friday at Jones Funeral Home in Tamms, Ill.

The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Friday at the funeral home with the Rev. Brent Miller officiating. Interment will be in Rose Hill Cemetery at Thebes.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of memorials to the Alzheimer's Association Greater Illinois Chapter, 402 E. Plaza Drive, Suite 4, Carterville, IL 62918, or to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 22718, Oklahoma City, OK 73123, in memory of Emma E. Hinton.
