CHARLESTON -- Funeral mass for Emma Heim of Largo, Fla., was held Wednesday at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Largo. Burial was in a Largo cemetery.

Heim, 77, died Sunday, June 20, 1993.

She was born Sept. 30, 1915, in Mississippi County, daughter of Jesse N. and Dora Baker Farmer.

After graduation from Charleston High School in 1933, she worked as a dental assistant for Dr. H.H. Cornwall until enrolling in John Gaston Hospital Nurses Training School in Memphis, Tenn. Following graduation from the training school, she was employed in hospitals at Memphis, Lebanon and Knoxville, Tenn.

She enlisted in the Army Nurses Corp in 1942, and attained the rank of major when she was discharged.

Survivors include a stepdaughter, Judy Goodheart of Florida; two brothers, Jack and Jesse Farmer of Charleston, and two stepgrandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James A. Heim; a stepdaughter, two sisters and a brother.
