SIKESTON, Mo. -- Emma Evens, 86, of Sikeston died Sunday, June 11, 2000, at Missouri Delta Medical Center.
She was born March 5, 1914, in Thompsonville, Ill., daughter of James Adam and Angeline Morris Cowgur. She and Reuben West were married in 1941 in Kirkwood. He died in 1967. She and Woodrow W. Evens were married Feb. 14, 1975, in Sikeston.
Evens was a graduate of Matthews High School at Matthews.
Formerly of Cape Girardeau and Murray, Ky., she was a member of Maple United Methodist Church in Cape Girardeau. She also was a lifetime member of Eastern Star.
Survivors include her husband; a sister, Nora McMullin of Sikeston; two half brothers, John Cowgur of Harrisburg, Ill., Ron Cowgur of Pawnee, Ill.; two stepsons, Bob Evens of Durand, Mich., Mike Evens of Gaines, Mich.; two stepdaughters, Patricia Pierce of Durand, Diana Yelland of Davisburg, Mich.; 10 stepgrandchildren; and five stepgreat-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two sisters and two brothers.
Friends may call at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel after 10 a.m. Wednesday.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the chapel, with the Rev. John Gregory officiating. Burial will be in Garden of Memories Cemetery.
