EMMA BODENSTEIN

GORDONVILLE -- Emma Bodenstein, 99, of Memphis, Tenn., died Thursday, Jan. 22, 1998, at her home.

She was born Jan. 22, 1899, near Kurreville, daughter of Louis and Wilhelmine Haupt Schmidt. She and Henry Bodenstein were married Feb. 14, 1931. He died Aug. 13, 1971.

Bodenstein lived near Gordonville most of her life, and was a lifelong member of Christ Lutheran Church. She had worked at the former International Shoe Co. in Jackson.

Survivors include three daughters, Betty Schmittzehe of Monroe, La., Dolores Strop and Shirley Kinkade of Memphis; a sister, Minnie Bush of Gordonville; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two brothers and three sisters.

Friends may call at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson after 11 a.m. Sunday.

Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, with the Rev. D. Lee Cullen officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
