Emma A. Bennett, 88, of Cape Girardeau, formerly of Scott City, died Sunday, Sept. 17, 2006, at Ratliff Care Center in Cape Girardeau. Emma A. Bennett, 88, of Cape Girardeau, formerly of Scott City, died Sunday, Sept. 17, 2006, at Ratliff Care Center in Cape Girardeau.

She was born Feb. 15, 1918, in Bazil Mills, Neb., daughter of Christ and Wilhemenia Jahn Kruse. She and Ray G. Bennett were married July 25, 1939, in Bazil Mills.

Mrs. Bennett owned and operated Rainbow Drive-In in Scott City from 1962 to 1974. She was a member of Hanover Lutheran Church.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Robert E. (Jeanie Hays) Bennett of Emma, Mo.; a daughter and son-in-law, Carol A. (David Sr.) Roth of Cape Girardeau; a daughter -in-law, Carol Bennett of Billings, Mont.; a sister, Selma Erchinger of Mercedes, Texas; four grandsons, David Roth II, Daniel Roth, Travis Bennett and Matt Bennett; five granddaughters, Deborah Rockrohr, Kimberly Bennett, Cynthia Bennett, Kari Green, Kathleen Bennett; and 11 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ray, Oct. 7, 2001; a son, Harvey; nine brothers and four sisters.

Friends may call at Hanover Lutheran Church today from 4 to 8 p.m. A praise and thanksgiving service by Vicar Bryan Varblow will be held at 7:30.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the church, with the Rev. Daniel Hackney officiating. Burial will be in Eisleben Lutheran Cemetery in Scott City.
