Emily Fuemmeler, 73, of Cape Girardeau died Monday, Sept. 13, 2021, at Saint Francis Medical Center.

She was born Sept. 18, 1947, in Cape Girardeau to Robert and Dora Faircloth Grueneberg. She and Stephen H. Fuemmeler were married Jan. 26, 1974, at Scott City. He preceded her in death March 26, 2016.

She was employed by the State of Missouri for many years.

The biggest part of her life was her grandkids. She loved the St. Louis Cardinals and having lunch and Facetiming her sisters.

She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Cape Girardeau.

Survivors include her daughter, Sarah (Jeremy) Kuntze of Jackson; son, Lucas (Stephanie) Fuemmeler of Oran, Missouri; five sisters, Jeannie Poinsett of Florissant, Missouri; Carol Grueneberg-Haynes of Cape Girardeau; Cindy (Gary) Raines of Cape Girardeau; Julie Grueneberg of Scott City; and Linda Matvy of Knoxville, Tennessee; five grandchildren, Jase Fuemmeler, Mari Fuemmeler and Mili Fuemmeler, all of Oran, and Carter Kuntze and Camryn Kuntze, both of Jackson; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and a brother, Bob Grueneberg.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau.

Graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Cape County Memorial Park in Cape Girardeau with the Rev. Douglas Breite officiating.

Memorial contributions may be given to Heartland Down Syndrome Association.
