Emily C. Dodd, 80, of Cape Girardeau, formerly of Mounds, Illinois, passed away at 8:50 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 16, 2014, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
Emily was born Dec. 31, 1933, in Lexington, Tennessee, daughter of the late Johnny Calvin and Addie Bell Jones Reynolds.
Emily was a member of the Bethany Baptist Church in Cape Girardeau and a former member of the Shiloh Baptist Church in Villa Ridge, Illinois.
Emily was a retired schoolteacher with the Meridian School District 101 in Mounds.
Survivors include two daughters, Kathy Lee of Cape Girardeau and Lily (Roger) Fetzer of Las Vegas; grandson, John Lee; two great-grandchildren, Brandon Lee and Zoe Lee; one brother, Calvin Reynolds of Lexington; and one sister, Pauline Young of Memphis, Tennessee.
Emily was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Biffle Duncan Dodd, on Nov. 7, 1993; two brothers; and two sisters.
Friends may call from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday at Jones Funeral Home Villa Ridge.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Larry Miller officiating. Interment will be in Liberty Cemetery, east of Pulaski, Illinois.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of memorials to St. Jude, P.O. Box 1000, Dept. 142, Memphis, TN 38148-0142 in memory of Emily Dodd.
