Emily Caroline Isbell, 87, of 1106 Themis died Friday, Dec. 27, 1996, at Southeast Missouri Hospital.
She was born May 8, 1909, near Delta, daughter of Dallas H. and Sarah Ella Waddle Zimmerman.
She and the Rev. J. Edgar Isbell were married on April 28, 1931, at Oran. He died Aug. 1, 1990.
She was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women.
She grew up in Delta and attended Southeast Missouri State University. She taught at Hornersville. She moved to Cape Girardeau from St. Louis in 1971.
Survivors include three sons, Robert Hugh Isbell of Dexter, John H. Isbell of Hannibal and William Marvin Isbell of Cape Girardeau; two daughters, Ruth Ann Carlin of Plant City, Fla., and Barbara L. Wolz of Houston; two sisters, Edna Welch and Lucille Long, both of Cape Girardeau; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters.
Friends may call from 5-7 p.m. Sunday at Ford & Sons Sprigg Street Chapel.
Funeral service will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. The Rev. Neil Stein will officiate, with burial in Memorial Park Cemetery.
