ALTENBURG, Mo. -- Emil E. Lohmann, 82, of Altenburg died Thursday, June 5, 2014, at Independence Care Center in Perryville, Missouri. ALTENBURG, Mo. -- Emil E. Lohmann, 82, of Altenburg died Thursday, June 5, 2014, at Independence Care Center in Perryville, Missouri.

He was born June 17, 1931, at Farrar, Missouri, son of Edwin and Lydia Hadler Lohmann. He and Caroline A. Lichtenegger were married July 26, 1953. She preceded him in death Dec. 28, 2002.

Emil was a farmer and a former Perry County judge/commissioner. He received the Outstanding Young Farmer Award in 1960. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, where he served as treasurer, elder, Sunday school teacher, finance board and on various building committees.

He was active in the Lutheran Laymen's League, Lions Club, Golden Agers, Perry County Lutheran Historical Society and Lutheran Braille Workers. He also served on the Farm Service Agency Board in Perryville and was a trustee on Riverside Regional Library Board.

Survivors include four daughters and sons-in-law, Emily (Randall) Steffens of Frohna, Missouri, Mary (Dr. Greg) Sedrick of Chattanooga, Tennessee, Carol (Scott) Brauks of Round Rock, Texas, and Melanie (Jeffrey) Weibrecht of Imperial, Missouri; two sisters, Olga Kuntze of Altenburg and Jane (Herm) Hummert of Imperial; eight grandchildren, Tyler (Ashley) Steffens, Hope (Wes) Holt, Christina (the Rev. Jake) Allstaedt, Erick, Melissa and Adam Brauks, Katelyn and Benjamin Weibrecht.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; seven brothers, Erwin, Harold, Edgar, Vernon, Willis, Leonard and Clifford Lohmann; three sisters, Edna Lohmann, Irene Huttegger and Becky Bohnert, stepmother, Hildegard (Hoehn) Lohmann; and an infant sibling.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday and from 6:30 a.m. to noon Tuesday at Young and Sons East Perry Chapel in Altenburg.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Altenburg, with the Rev. Steven Dressler officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Memorials are preferred to Perry County Lutheran Historical Society or The Lutheran Hour.
