CHAFFEE -- Emeline Bates, 70, of Chaffee, Died Dec. 29, 1990 at Chaffee General Hospital. She was born Feb. 21, 1920 at Fayetteville, Ark., the daughter of William H. and Belle Milem Keys.
On June 3, 1950, she married Loren Bates in Piggott, Ark. they operated the Trade Winds used furniture store in Cape Girardeau for several years.
She was a member of the New Life World Outreach Center in Cape. Survivors include a brother, Alvin Keys, of Palm Springs, Calif.; and two sisters, Oma Hankins and Moudie Hankins, both of Fayetteville.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1989, and by six brothers and three sisters.
Funeral services will be Monday at 1 p.m. at Ford and Sons Mt. Auburn Chapel, with the Rev. Jack Cathcart officiating. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. today at Mt. Auburn.
Burial will be Monday at Stroderville Cemetery in Whitewater.
