BLOOMFIELD, Mo. -- Elva Townsend, daughter of the late Bill and Fannie Bright Stacy, was born in Leora, Mo., on Jan. 9, 1922, and passed away at the Ratliff Care Center in Cape Girardeau on Wednesday, April 1, 2009, at the age of 87.

Mrs. Townsend lived in the Bloomfield area all her life.

She was married to Norman Townsend, who preceded her in death Oct. 30, 1983.

Surviving are one son, Johnny Townsend of Bloomfield, and one granddaughter, Hannah Carpenter of Alton, Ill. Other relatives and friends also survive.

Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. Sunday, April 5, 2009, at Chiles-Cooper Funeral Home in Bloomfield.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 5, 2009, at Chiles-Cooper Funeral Home in Bloomfield. The Rev. Ray Placher of Puxico, Mo., will officiate.

Interment will be in George Cemetery near Bloomfield with Chiles-Cooper Funeral Home in Bloomfield in charge of arrangements.
