PARMA -- Elton Hayes Walker, 80, of Rogers, Ark., died Saturday, Aug. 23, 1997, at Northwest Medical Center in Springdale, Ark.

He was born May 10, 1917, in Marmaduke, Ark., son of Charlie and Ethel Penny Walker. He and Eleanor Hardesty were married Aug. 4, 1945, in Piggott, Ark.

Walker retired as a tool and die maker with Ford Motor Co. in Illinois, where he worked 25 years. He moved to Arkansas 13 years ago. He was a member of Church of the Nazarene and Mariners Club. He was formerly of Campbell.

He served in the Merchant Marines during World War II.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Connie Walker of Darien, Ill., William Walker of Rogers; three brothers, Frank Walker of Paragould, Ark., Dee Walker of Dexter, Ellis Walker of Howell, Mich.; a sister, Lena Dorrell of Carson City, Nev.; and two grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a daughter.

Friends may call at Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Parma after 10 a.m. Wednesday.

Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Doug McAdams officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery at Campbell.
