Elsie L. Schuessler, 92, of New Wells passed away Wednesday, March 23, 2016, at Independence Care Center in Perryville, Missouri. One of five children, she was born March 2, 1924, at New Wells to Theodore Gottfried and Margarete Emilie Hemmann Koch. She and Wilbert A. "Wib" Schuessler were married July 20, 1946, at New Wells. Elsie L. Schuessler, 92, of New Wells passed away Wednesday, March 23, 2016, at Independence Care Center in Perryville, Missouri.

One of five children, she was born March 2, 1924, at New Wells to Theodore Gottfried and Margarete Emilie Hemmann Koch. She and Wilbert A. "Wib" Schuessler were married July 20, 1946, at New Wells. They had been married nearly 61 years when Wib passed away March 11, 2007.

Elsie was baptized March 16, 1924, and confirmed March 21, 1937, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in New Wells, where she was a lifelong member. She and Wib served many years as the church custodians, and Elsie worked privately, cleaning homes in the Cape Girardeau area.

Loving survivors include two children, Karen (Dale) Bronenkant of Frohna, Missouri, and Keith Schuessler (Nancy Riehn) of Jackson; two grandchildren, Scott (Stephanie) Bronenkant and Greg Bronenkant (Sally Houck), all of Perryville; two great-grandchildren, Dalton and Garrett Bronenkant; two great-stepgrandchildren, Trenton Thieret and Kayla (Bradley) Winschel; and a great-great-step grandson, Axel Winschel.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by four siblings, Hilda Meinz, Louise Boehme, Jeanette Bergman and Albert "Joe" Koch.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson and from 9 a.m. to service time Saturday at Immanuel Lutheran Church in New Wells.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the church, with the Rev. Lawrence Bradt officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery.

Memorials may take the form of contributions to Lutheran Hour Ministries, the Cemetery Fund of Immanuel Lutheran Church or Southeast Hospice.
