SPANAWAY, Wash. — Elsa Colyer of Spanaway passed away peacefully the evening of Wednesday, Oct. 25, 2023, into the arms of God, with her daughter by her side.
Born April 6, 1924, in Wiesbaden, Germany, she came to the United States after marrying a handsome soldier, John Lee Colyer, who swept her off her feet and was immediately embraced by his large, welcoming family. Together they had two children — son, John Lee Jr., and daughter, Jeanette Christine.
After retiring from Puget Sound Bank in 1986, Elsa lived a life full of travel, laughter and love. She loved all and any of God's creatures. She also enjoyed an occasional trip to a casino and good beer.
Elsa was preceded in death by her husband and son.
Other than her daughter, she is survived by numerous family members, including her dear sister-in-law, Joann Colyer-Toler of McClure, Illinois; daughter-in-law, Sandy; two grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A special thank you to the amazing team from hospice. The care, comfort and consideration they provided was beyond expectations.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to ASPCA, Humane Society or any no-kill shelter.
Fir Lane Memorial Park and Funeral Home in Spanaway is assisting the family.
